Step 1: Identify an area of your life you’d like to improve, work on, overcome or master.
Step 2: Scan your network and find a person who has done, or is doing the thing you want to do.
Step 3: Ask them. Not in an ‘off the cuff‘ type of way, but in a professional, ‘I’ve actually thought about this‘ kind of way. Show them you’ve prepared the conversation by being organised. Be genuine, be generous and be humble. Then go for it!
Try it. It’s worked over the years for me, and I’ve just recently identified another area of weakness where I need a little leg up.
So I’ll see if the method still works.
