Couples Counselling

Maintaining a long-term intimate relationship or marriage is hard work. And sometimes couples can find themselves off-track and struggling.

Many times, however, this isn’t through lack of love–or even trying–rather life happens. And when life happens, the person closest to you can cop the brunt of all the stress, pain, hurt and frustration.

The irritation that occurs between two people who are in a committed relationship happens when the couple can’t find a way through the stress and strain they are experiencing. These struggles may look like having a short fuse, arguing, communication problems, lack of sexual intimacy, time apart, feeling like housemates and the list goes on. Thankfully, things can be worked through with some hard work, focus, persistence and professional guidance.

I work with many of the common issues couples face including: 

  • Communication problems and difficulties
  • Infidelity, affairs, betrayal and marital unfaithfulness
  • Life transitions: parenthood, newlyweds, empty nesters etc.
  • Intimacy and sexual desire differences

There is a lot at stake when it comes to couple’s work, so making your relationship a priority is critical. 

I’ve been married for 16 years and experienced a whole range of challenges. I’ve been on the therapist’s couch before, putting in the hard yards with my wife to grow and deepen our marriage. 

One thing I do know is that relationship struggles can be worked through with the support of a neutral third person. It’s a real privilege for me to sit with couples as they open up their inner worlds and allow me to guide them toward the relationship they truly desire.

Couples sessions are conducted in person and last for 1.5 or 2 hours. Couples sessions involve a mixture of couple and individual sessions. We will discuss the best steps forward during the first session.
